The 1st International Supply Chain Community Meeting 2023 (ISSCM 2023 for short) took place in the impressive premises of Schönbrunn Palace. Over a period of almost three days, experienced and aspiring supply chain managers gathered under the motto “Present and future in supply chain management”.
Franz Staberhofer, Chairman of VNL, was more than satisfied with the course and results of the International Supply Chain Community Meeting,
“Supply chain managers are the often overlooked heroes in the economy. They network and organise in their companies. What has been missing until now is a community in which they promote the topic of supply chain management. The 1st ISCCM 2023 showed how important networking is for this. Together with the participants, we have defined a powerful path with a series of projects and measures up to the 2nd ISCCM 2024.”
“It was very helpful and refreshing for me that at the 1st International Supply Chain Community Meeting, unlike at many other events, we were able to discuss the problems in the supply chain with different companies in a very concrete way. In addition, I was able to establish very good contacts with the responsible supply chain managers, with whom I will be able to exchange ideas on specific topics and problems in future meetings,” says Gerhard Mühlhans, Vice President Supply Chain Centre of Excellence at RHI Magnesita.
Roland Lechner, Managing Director International Supply Chain Management at ALDI SÜD KG, also an ISCCM 2023 participant, emphasised the necessary positioning: “The challenges in managing international supply chains are almost identical across all industries. Issues such as finding qualified employees, technology and IT, legal framework conditions and, above all, the focus on sustainability concern both small and large companies. Supply chain management that is well anchored in the company is able to master challenges with sometimes conflicting goals in the interests of customers in a sustainable manner.”
Karl Josef Haussteiner, Vice President Logistics Worldwide &Business Process Owner – Logistics Vishay Semiconductor (Austria) GesmbH was enthusiastic about the 1st ISCCM 2023. “Of the many conferences I have attended over the years, the ISCCM stands out. The event was characterised by an open atmosphere and lively discussions among like-minded people, with an inspiring exchange between science/research and the current business world. The enthusiastic participation of SCM students was particularly impressive.
